 GRATITUDE AND 5 WAYS TO BE GRATEFUL

   Gratitude !! Such a heavy word!  In simple English as defined by oxford dictionary : Gratitude means The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. To make our life worth-while, certain values have to be adopted and practiced as a routine..

         William Arthur Ward has famously quoted- “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”.. Also the quote by

Michael Josephson  "The world has enough beautiful mountains and meadows, spectacular skies and serene lakes. It has enough lush forests, flowered fields, and sandy beaches. It has plenty of stars and the promise of a new sunrise and sunset every day. What the world needs more of is people to appreciate and enjoy it." 

        I remember as youngster, my dad  and mom would often emphasize on the significance of appreciating and be grateful in order to achieve success in life…looking back and remembering those words…I sense a feeling of gratitude in my heart for all those enriching words of him.

 For me, values serve as testers to check if am heading the right way. Values can make or break your identity. A person with high values is always successful in whichever arena he is into. Time and again, history has episodes and episodes stressed on values of people who have walked a long way and become legends setting an example for us all!!…

 If we try and adopt the following FIVE ways to be grateful , we would be able to live a much simplified, stress free and a productive life!!!!

 

 

  • DAILY JOURNAL: Genuinely it works wonders believe me!!!

It cultivates habit of being grateful for everyday of our life. The pros of it are many and many, you have something to look forward at the end of the day and fill it up and it’s a treasure for ourselves when we re-read those words of gratitude. Maintaining a daily journal can be done in two ways, you can write it in a diary or second option you can download an app from play store searching as Gratitude journal or Gratitude Diary. It is just about how you prefer to jot down and the attitude towards the mission to be grateful remains same.

Gratitude always parents long lasting happiness.

  • THANK-YOU: Paying and getting Thank-you has never spoilt anyone’s day ever. It means a lot to all of us. The main agenda is to Do Good Feel Good. Saying a thank-you in return of someone doing us a favor of doing our work makes us aware of the good things coming up our way and we do not take anything for granted. We accumulate all the goodies and positive feelings in our life by being thankful to the right person at the right time.

A Grateful heart is a magnet for miracles.

  • COMPARISON: Whoever told us that comparing is a bad habit was certainly focused on one point of view. Comparing with better ones leads us to perform better. Comparing with inferior ones leads us to generating the sense of being grateful. Vowing to practice Gratitude is one of favors you can do for yourself. Comparison has always been under bad light because of one thing that it has made people see the superior ones and feel bad about them whereas you are supposed to look at the inferior ones and measure up the differences and be motivated and grateful for better future growth.

Gratitude is more of a compliment to yourself than someone else.

  • STOP COMPLAINING: Let’s try to go a day, a week , a month without cribbing about how our life is , spouse is , office is , weather is. Let’s see our lives taking this beautiful turn and make us happier than ever. Using positive words such as wonderful, blessed, happy , glad , abundance , blessings , wishes , prayers helps us sow seeds of evergreen soothing scenario in our mind, body and the soul. I have pretty much stopped this complaining streak when I read this few lines by Eckhart Tolle,The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

“See if you can catch yourself complaining, in either speech or thought, about a situation you find yourself in, what other people do or say, your surroundings, your life situation, even the weather. To complain is always non acceptance of what is. It invariably carries an unconscious negative charge. When you complain, you make yourself into a victim. When you speak out, you are in your power. So change the situation by taking action or by speaking out if necessary or possible; leave the situation or accept it. All else is madness.” 

Gratitude and attitude are not challenges; they are choices.
